This is what Cortez Canyon turquoise looks like when it’s given room to show itself.
Polished freeform — shaped to follow the natural contours of the stone rather than forced into a standard cabochon — this piece displays the full depth of the lime green color that makes this
formation so sought after. The polish brings out a subtle translucency in the highest-saturation areas, and the freeform shape means no two angles look quite the same.
Weight: 9.25g
Form: Polished freeform
Origin: Cortez Canyon, Northern Nevada
Treatment: None — 100% natural, never stabilized, never dyed
Hardness: 5–6 Mohs (natural untreated turquoise)
This piece is ready to wear, display, or set. The freeform shape lends itself especially well to wire wrapping, bezel settings, or display as a collector specimen.
The vivid lime-to-mint green is driven by zinc concentration in the crystal structure — the same geochemistry that makes this material rare. When zinc partially or fully replaces copper in the turquoise structure, the color shifts from blue toward green. At high zinc concentrations, the mineral technically becomes faustite — and this piece sits at the vivid green end of that spectrum.
Our most polished offering — literally and figuratively.
