Nevada Green Turquoise

Natural green turquoise from Cortez Canyon, Northern Nevada — one of the rarest turquoise-producing formations in the American West.

Unlike most turquoise, which owes its blue color to copper, Cortez Canyon stones derive their vivid green from zinc — a rare geochemical condition that produces color unlike anything found in Arizona, New Mexico, or the turquoise mines of the Southwest. At the highest zinc concentrations, the mineral technically becomes faustite.

Every piece in this collection is 100% natural — never stabilized, never dyed, never treated. Collector grade and lapidary grade rough specimens, polished freeforms, and natural matrix pieces sourced directly from the limestone formations that made prospector Orvil Jack famous among Nevada turquoise collectors.

Naturally green turquoise accounts for less than 5% of the world’s turquoise supply. What you find here is part of that rare 5%.
